Sergio Buonanno is the new CEO of Invitalia Ventures

The Board Directors of Invitalia Ventures SGR has recently appointed Mr. Sergio Buonanno as new Chief Executive Officer of Invitalia Ventures, the SGR that manages the Invitalia Venture I Fund.

Born in Como in 1970, Sergio Buonanno graduated with honors in Electrical Engineering from Politecnico of Milan, where he also earned a PhD Degree in Power Systems.  Prior joining Invitalia Ventures, Sergio Buonanno spent several years in Enel group and other Investment Funds.

In 1997 he joined Enel as R&D specialist. From the year 2000 until 2002 he worked as Investment Manager in Enel Capital.  He subsequently held various executive positions in the group: starting from 2002 until 2005 he worked as Enel group’s M&A team’s Manager, then served as Head of HR Organization, Planning and Development from 2006 until 2007 where coordinated the reorganization of the Sales Division.

In the last ten years, Sergio Buonanno has held several key responsibilities in the management of investment teams, as well as serving as executive of closed-end funds in leading investment management companies.

From 2007 to 2010 he was Managing Director of AlAdInn Ventures, a regional venture capital fund managed by Friulia SGR.  Subsequently he served as Managing Director of IDeA energy efficiency and sustainable development Fund, managed by DeA Capital Alternative Funds SGR, which is a leading platform in Italy dedicated to the management of private equity and private debt funds.

Invitalia Ventures is the SGR of Invitalia, the National Agency for inward investment and enterprise development, fully onwed by the Ministry of Economy and Finance. Invitalia Venture SGR manages the Italia Venture I Fund (86,65 €/MLN) dedicated to equity investments into innovative SMEs and startup. The fund exclusively co-invests together with national and international private operators. Mains LPs are The Ministry of Economic Development, the European Investment Bank, the Cisco Group, the Sardinia Banking Foundation and the Metec Group.
